This report undertakea a critical literature review of key theories of how strategy is devel-oped and implemented, and the relationship between strategy, innovation and change. The report reviews available literature on Strategic development and the different types which include deliberate and emergent strategic development. The author further discusses strategic planning as a critical component of strategic development and why it is important. Various frameworks are given that aid organizations in strategic planning such as Balanced score Card (BSC), Total Quality Management (TQM) and European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM). Conclusions are then made with the current trends on strategic development and the relationship between strategy, innovation, and change.
