Founded in 1963 as a designer of ladies lingerie, Zara launched its ﬁrst store in La Coruna city located in northwest of Spain in 1975 as a retail clothing company. By 1989, the firm had 98 retail shops and production facilities distributed around Spain and in the same year, it had embarked on international expansion by opening a store in Lisbon, Portugal. This marked what was to be was the beginning of a huge global expansion plan. Zara is now the largest and most proﬁtable unit of the Inditex Group, the Spanish clothes manufacturer and distributor, with over 1,400 stores distributed throughout Europe, Middle East, Asia Paciﬁc and the Americas.
